Two Cents: Lady Gaga, White Party & Crabs
I’ve spent a great deal of time this past week toiling over my Two Cents content, second guessing my posts, articles and inclusions on GLTNewsNow, wondering if what I provide to you (the readers) is of interest, informative, valuable or, even, at all entertaining. Then, like a light switch, it hit me! The very nature of this type of Social Media outlet is, in essence, to share your voice. Offer perspective, insight, opinion and, most importantly, a view of news, events, happenings (whatever) that may surprise or enlighten you and make you question, think or learn. I can’t expect that anyone will read what I post, no sooner than I can expect it will be appreciated or valued. I can only continue to offer my Two Cents on those ‘things’ I feel are important enough to write about and hope you’ll participate in the dialogue.
Lady Gaga: The Fame Monster
For the past several days, I’ve been incessantly singing and humming two tracks off the diva’s forthcoming CD The Fame Monster, “Monster” and “Alejandro.” Some very well-connected friends in LA were kind enough to send me her entire album via download and I really can’t get enough.
From sampling Depeche Mode to channeling Abba, I’m completely addicted. And, her “Bad Romance” video: SICK (that’s a good thing.) Not so enthused about her “Videophone” or “Telephone” collaborations with Beyonce. However thanks to uber-DJ Taj, he got me to really listen to both…and I’ll take the latter if I must.
White Party: Reworked?
White Party Palm Springs producer Jeffrey Sanker is said to be changing things up a bit for the 2010 weekend extraordinaire. Most notably, it will not be held Easter weekend, but rather April 9-12 (one week later.)
Now, personally, I haven’t been to a White Party in years. Why? I have no interest. But next year may be the exception. I have it on good word from a very reliable source that plans are underway for an ‘ultra-exclusive’ special event to take place in Palm Springs during White Party weekend (no affiliation with Sanker.) If any of you remember the sold-out High Tea event at the Ivy Hotel held during this past San Diego Pride weekend, then get ready for High Tea, White Party-style. And don’t get it twisted, these McHotnesses KNOW how to throw a party…one that everyone clamors to get into.
A key factor to High Tea success: location, location, location! Don’t expect a rave around some naughty nudie resort’s pool (not that there’s anything wrong with that.) Do expect that the party’s organizers have picked a joint top on travelers’ lists right now: the hip, new ACE Hotel & Swim Club Palm Springs (definitely not your Grandfather’s Ho-Jo.) Details are still being ironed out so I’ll be sure to stay on top of it and release information as I can. Word to the wise: if you want a room at the hotel, book now (they won’t last long.)
“Your Dog Has Crabs!”
…some snooty, anorexic, super-model wannabe wailed to me while I was walking my dog, Heidi, down University Avenue for a potty break. I was mortified and immediately started inspecting Heidi’s coat for any signs of fleas or ticks. I don’t know how this woman was able to detect it from 20 feet away, but sure enough, there was a flea scurrying around her coat like a spider monkey. The two of us high-tailed it to BowWow for an immediate doggie wash and beautification. While I was there, I noticed a post on the door about two dogs the shoppe was fostering that are in need of loving parents and good homes: Jose, an 8 year-old Chihuahua and Serenity, a 6 year-old poodle mix. If you or anyone you know are interested in adopting a pet, please call (619) 692-0962 for more details about these two little cuties.
