Baja Betty’s Celebrates 5 Years
Who would have thought that a Wednesday night could be so glam!
If you follow me on Facebook, it should be no surprise where I was Wednesday night…or any day during the week for that matter. Baja Betty’s pulled out all the stops to celebrate their 5th year serving great food and “oh so yummy” margaritas (frozen peach is my favorite.)
I arrived early to secure myself a seat at the bar before the festivities began. The place was packed in anticipation of the big event. Luckily there were plenty of belly bars to prop me up. The restaurant was bathed in red. Upon entering, I was given a choice of party favors: a red boa, a glow stick or a red sequin tiara? No offense, but those tiaras were tired for a Queen of my level, so I sported the red boa for the evening. The staff, dressed to the nines, walked around with tempting treats (some of the staff are pretty tempting themselves, I must say.) Best dressed for the evening definitely goes to Mayra, my girl look BEAUTIFUL.

It took a while to get to my VIP table because I kept running into so many people I know. Andrew Rosenberg and Jeffrey Wergeles were among the first to arrive. Kevin James, Attorney Bruce Abrams, Nicole Murray-Ramirez, Charlie Wilkins, Jan and her sexy son Michael (I love me some redheads,) Councilman Carl De Maio, Robert Nelson and Ron “short shorts” of Nordstrom Cafe just to name a few.
During the event, I was finally able to catch up with friend Brian Bond, the makeup artist for Kendra on E! Entertainment Television (Sundays, 10pm) and all the fabulous Tantrums & Tiaras divas. We gossiped a little about what he’s currently doing and he’s got some great stuff in the works. I’ll be sitting Brian down for an insider interview very soon, so stay tuned to GLTNewsNow for more.
I hung out with on of my best girlfriends, Cheri Reeves, other good friends Mike Dinwiddie and Joe Leppert, and a dear old friend I recently re-connected with, Garrison Fletcher.

Baja Betty’s staff is ALWAYS top notch. They are the friendliest bunch I’ve encountered at any San Diego restaurant. The fantastic Courtney Ray has made Baja Betty’s a place where everyone feels comfortable: young, old, gay, straight, bear, twink…whatever. It truly is a place where the entire community can have fun! If you haven’t been there recently, you’re most definitely missing out. Monday through Friday 2-6PM is Papi Hour featuring $3 house margaritas and appetizers. Seriously one of the best deals in town. You’re likely to find Paco behind the bar during the day, he’s the sweetest guy ever to serve you a drink GUARANTEED! And, you should see him ride an ass…Burro that is.

I’ll be giving Betty’s sister site, Gossip Grill, another shot (my first visit was, shall we say, unsuccessful.) If you want to go with me, let me know! Until next time.

You’ve made this redhead blush!
