Two Cents: Stingaree Gets Gagafied & Rich’s Gets Grinched
Who would have thought that after spending an entire weekend up and down a ladder hanging holiday lights for the ‘rents, I’d be in the mood for any further jolly & joy. I can’t help it, the holiday spirit has bit me, big time. And, I can’t wait to help collect toys, deliver food to needy families and hit-up every holiday party I can before the December madness ends and we get back to routine life, 2010-style.
Here’s some Two Cents’ Ho-Ho-Hos…of the holiday variety…to keep you all warm and fuzzy this month. And, please don’t forget those non-profit organizations like The Center, Something Special Food Pantry, Being Alive and Home Start. Tis the season to give back. Make a donation to your favorite charity or volunteer some time at a local service agency. Even in these rough economic times, you’d be amazed at how far just a little goes. Make a difference, especially now when it’s needed the most.
On December 8, satisfy your sweet tooth and help kids during the holidays at San Diego Desserts during their toy drive benefiting Toys for Tots. The gayborhood’s new after dinner nosh spot is offering every guest who brings in a new, unwrapped toy anytime between 5:30 and 8:30PM their first glass of vino on the house.
December 10, party impresario Michael Mack brings L.A.’s favorite Grinch, Jackie Beat, to San Diego for a one-night-only holiday performance at Rich’s. Jackie Beat: ALCOHOLIDAYS is a raunchy, raucous comedy event aptly described by Time Out magazine as a “crabby alternative to Christmas cheer.” Tacky, tasteless and hysterical, Alcoholidays is an “oasis of bile in a season of sappy sentiment.” The dragtastic diva takes the stage at 9:30PM sharp, with dancing until 2AM. $10 cover.
All the Muscle-y mens will be helping motivate the merry festivities on December 14 over at Martini’s Above Fourth during their 6th Annual Wreath Auction to benefit the San Diego LGBT Community Center’s Queen Eddie Conlon Youth Fund. Local businesses and philanthropic folks donate beautiful, handmade wreaths that accompany some amazing silent auction items, all to help provide education-related expenses (books, clothing, supplies, etc.) for LGBT youth ages 13-24. The always sell-out event reaches capacity early and seating is limited. Call (619) 400-4500 for reservations and information.
And…
The day we’ve been waiting for ALL YEAR. On December 19, pop diva and performance artist extraordinaire Lady Gaga brings her inner freak to AEG Sports Arena for the only arena stop on her Monster Ball world tour. But that’s just the beginning. Post-concert, Queen Gaga is making a ‘b-line’ right to Stingaree to host the posh nightclub’s 4th Anniversary spectacular. The pinnacle of San Diego nightlife, Stingaree has played host to A-List celebs the likes of Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, John Legend, Entourage’s Kevin Dillon and top DJs including Samantha Ronson and the late, great DJ AM. Stingaree rolls out the red carpet at 8PM with a hosted bar until 9PM. But, expect Gagalicious to arrive on gay-time (aka “late”.) That means your best bet is to arrive early – there will be a cover – or reserve a table and bottle service to ensure you’re on the list. For reservations and additional information, call 619-544-1847 or email info@stingsandiego.com
