Men @ The Center’s New Monthly Event “Two Cents with Aaron Heier”
GLTNewsNow and the San Diego LGBT Community Center are partnering to bring a new Men @ The Center monthly event to the community in 2010. Debuting January 19 at 7PM, GLTNewsNow Associate Editor and Center personality, Aaron Heier, will host ‘Two Cents with Aaron Heier’ in the Center’s Community Resource Room.
Taking its name and style from his popular GLTNewsNow column, Two Cents with Aaron Heier is an entertaining, informative and interactive ‘talk show social’ where he interviews the men who move San Diego’s LGBT community. Part Ellen, part Inside the Actors Studio, the informal one-on-one format is then followed by a mix and mingle cocktail hour that gives attendees some rare “up close and personal” face time with the month’s special guest.
Two Cent’s inaugural guest is gay Navy veteran and fellow GLTNewsNow contributor Joseph Christopher Rocha whose horrific story of hazing, harassment and abuse while serving as a dog handler in the Middle East has made international news. Rocha’s discharge and subsequent headlines are helping keep the effort to end the military’s destructive “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy regarding gays in the military at the forefront of the LGBT equal rights movement.
Two Cents with Aaron Heier will be held on the third Tuesday of every month starting in January 2010. Adult beverages, soft drinks and light appetizers will be served during the free event (donations, of course, are appreciated) and those attending are encouraged to socialize and engage with both the host, the special guest and each other while there.
