Citizen Kurt’s Dirty Dozen: Sister Iona Dubble-Wyde
Sister Iona Dubble-Wyde
I met Sister Iona online originally, lord knows how long ago. But in the past six months we’ve become close friends. We eat together TOO often. Usually you’ll find us at Brians American Eatery, Baja Betty’s and Iona’s favorite, The Chicken Pie Shop. We’ve carved pumpkins at Cheers and we talk about boys A LOT.
In case you aren’t familiar with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, take a moment to familiarlize yourself with this worthwhile organization at their Wikipedia page. To learn more about the San Diego chapter, click HERE
1) What’s the most embarrassing situation you have ever been in? Pride 07, I was walking down the parade route doing my usual running in 7-inch platforms and after I jumped over the median, I wiped out. I didn’t realize that at this point we were right in front of one of the radio stands announcing the parade, and over the loud speaker I hear, “oh look, she’s down.”
2) If you could banish a single person to a deserted island for life, who would it be and why? It would be a toss up between Pat Roberton and Karl Rove. Both of them just seem really evil and aren’t above doing whatever it takes to get their agenda through.
3) Whats your favorite movie of all time? Splash. I watched the VHS of that so much when I was a nunling that I burned the tape.
4) If you could spend the day at Disneyland with 3 people living or dead, who would you pick? Kylie Minogue, Thomas Jefferson and Cleopatra
5) Whats your favorite word? Groovy
6) If you could trade lives with anyone for 1 week, who would it be and why? Cher. Because she’s Cher
7) What is your best attribute/characteristic? That’s a toughie for me. I’m much more comfortable with my faults, so best attribute would be…umm…I have a really good memory.
8) What prominent GLBT personality do you admire? Lately I’ve been rereading a bunch of Harry Hay essays and interviews. Love that he was a trailblazer and not afraid to think outside of the box.
9) What is your “must see” TV? When I had a television, Keith Olberman, Rachel Maddow and the Daily Show. I didn’t get rid of it for any real reason other than to save money.
10) If you could recommend one book for people to read, what would it be? Ayn Rand’s Anthem
11) If you could pick any profession other than your own, what would it be? Archeologist
12) What is your favorite quote? can i pick three?
“If pride of character be of worth at anytime it is when it disarms the efforts of malice.” –Thomas Jefferson
“You will make all kinds of mistakes; but as long as you are generous and true and also fierce you cannot hurt the world or even seriously distress her. She was meant to be wooed and won by youth.” –Winston Churchill
“We have to talk about liberating minds as well as liberating society.” –Angela Davis
