San Diego Women’s Fest 2010 Celebrates Strength in Diversity
The San Diego LGBT Community Center’s Women’s Resource Center will once again bring local women together for a day-long festival of workshops, entertainment and resources for lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LBT) women. “Women’s Fest 2010: Strength in Diversity” will take place on Saturday, May 8 from 10AM to 5PM at The Center. This year’s festival will focus on nourishing the diversity within the women’s community as well as the ways in which we can come together to form a healthier and more empowered entity.
“We are so lucky to have so many types of women in our community – lesbian moms, bisexual activists, transgender women, lesbians of color, college students, senior citizens and the list goes on,” explains Abby Schwartz, coordinator of The Center’s Women’s Resource Center. “We have so much to learn from one another and our experiences, and Women’s Fest is the perfect venue to do so. We hope that this day of workshops, discussion and entertainment will bring the diverse facets of our community together in a whole new way.”
Last year’s Women’s Fest featured 15 workshops and more than 35 women-friendly vendors and community partners. Workshop and vendor applications for Women’s Fest 2010 will be available beginning March 1.
