DiscoverSD: Spring THREAD Show

THREAD is an ultra-stylish and inspiring celebration of all things fashionable and eco-savvy in San Diego. From hundreds of independent designers in all genres to green fashion shows across organic runways, free live hair styling, multiple bars, local pop-up art galleries, recycle stations and rotating guest DJs, THREAD is by far our favorite shopping party, and you’re officially invited to join the fun.

The upcoming 2010 Spring THREAD Show arrives in San Diego on Sunday, April 11 at the brand new Horton Event Space. RSVP online to reserve your early bird entry tickets for just $8.

Wait, what – THREAD at a mall? We know what you’re thinking people, but trust us, Horton Event Space is the perfect new location.

In traditional style, the brains of THREAD discovered a hidden gem right beneath your nose. What was once a bustling department store is now a vacant 30,000-square-foot space where indie designers and artists will cozy up and make themselves right at home. If you’re curious, take a stroll down Fourth Avenue and check out THREAD styles taking over the mall’s display windows atop Sam Goody.

First Stop – DiscoverSD Style Lounge: If there’s any local company that truly knows and adores THREAD, it’s DiscoverSD.com. For years now we’re been sponsoring this amazing San Diego lifestyle event and spending our year’s salary on the too-cute-to-pass-up fashions all the while. It’s a love-hate relationship that always leaves us wanting more. All day on Sunday, April 11th we will treat shoppers to the DiscoverSD Style Lounge – a beauty refuge in the center of the party featuring complimentary hair styling by hot professionals from Diesel Salon in Kensington. Want to try on a new ‘do to match your new THREAD purchases? Head to the DiscoverSD Style Lounge to get your hair styled to spring perfection by our trend-setting friends at Diesel Salon.

Let’s Shop! THREAD will put over 100 indie designers in the spotlight, featuring unique collections for men, women, children, and accessories for discounted prices of up to 80% off. Notable exhibitors include: Hopes and Dreams – contemporary women’s clothing and fashion jewelry; Grammatique – upcycled fashions for the eco-savvy; Molly B Bikinis – locally handmade swimwear; Fables by Barrie – women’s vintage inspired dresses and swimwear; Skullastic – a style outlet for outcasts to be seen and heard; Clover and Folly – a local 1920s inspired accessory line; Chi Stylezs – hand crafted one-of-a-kind designs with leather-working techniques and recycled resources; Rachel Larraine – feminine hand-made accessories and hair pieces (pictured); and of course our favorite Bohemian-inspired local jewelry designer to the stars Micha Design (pictured – below).

But guess what, this shopping paradise isn’t just for your closet anymore. THREAD introduces a new house wares section where you can find furniture, art and accessories for your home that are all locally produced. These edgy lifestyle bits will add a bespoke touch to your home.

Let’s Party! If you’ve been to a THREAD Show before, you know that these creative people know how to have a good time. Twice each day, models will share Spring’s hottest trends from indie designers on the NewGrass runway. Everything you see on the runway will be on sale at the show. As you shop or catch a fashion show, DJs will be spinning upbeat electro and house beats. Oh, and we almost forgot the drinks! Throughout Horton Event Space, there will be plenty of bars with VIP drink specials and free giveaways so you can get your buzz on in style.

THREAD Show is back on Sunday, April 11th from 11am – 5pm at Horton Event Space within Horton Plaza Mall in downtown San Diego. If you RSVP now, online pre-sell tickets are $8, and general admission tickets are $10 at the door. Attendance includes: show entrance, fashion shows, music, interactive fun + a gift bag for the first 250 people in the door!

Location & Parking: THREAD’s Spring 2010 San Diego event will be in the Horton Plaza Event Space on the second floor on the corner of 4th & Broadway. Horton Plaza is located at: 324 Horton Plaza, San Diego, CA 92101. We recommend bikes, feet and public transportation for travelling to THREAD, but if you must drive, you can park in the Horton Plaza parking garage, where you can validate for three hours of free parking.
