EFKO’s exports rose 15% in 2024, executive director Sergei Ivanov said, according to Interfax on 26 December. He expected annual shipments to approach two million tonnes. The company attributed growth principally to China, India and Turkey, accounting for about 80% of exports.

A previously announced logistics project

On 6 June 2024, Interfax reported an agreement between EFKO and the Samara regional authorities for modernisation of the Togliatti food plant. The planned investment was RUB 11 billion, with approximately 140 jobs expected. Processing capacity was to increase by half to 3,000 tonnes of oilseeds per day, alongside expanded storage for raw materials and finished products. Strategic development director Vladislav Romantsev described a river terminal planned within two years for direct oil and meal shipments from the plant. The project envisaged exports via the Volga and the North–South transport corridor.

The preceding production season

In an earlier report dated 1 October 2024, analytics centre OleoScope said vegetable-oil production in Russia had exceeded ten million tonnes in the September 2023–August 2024 season, up 8%. Sunflower oil reached 7.81 million tonnes, up 14%; soybean oil was approximately 1.1 million tonnes, up 4%. Rapeseed oil fell 14% to 1.24 million tonnes. The centre put EFKO’s share of the broader fat-and-oil production market at 13%, while its share of consumer fat-and-oil products was 14%. These are different market categories within that seasonal report.

Earlier national export figures

On 29 December 2023, Interfax reported preliminary national fat-and-oil exports of more than 10.5 million tonnes for 2023, up 29% from 2022. Agroexport cited Oil and Fat Union executive director Mikhail Maltsev: vegetable oils accounted for 6.3 million tonnes and meal for four million tonnes. Sunflower-oil shipments exceeded four million tonnes, while rapeseed oil exceeded 1.5 million tonnes. At that time, Maltsev forecast vegetable-oil exports of nearly 7.4 million tonnes for 2024. The figures and forecast referred to the national industry; EFKO’s December 2024 statement concerned the company’s own exports.
