Polymetal began construction of the Salda Gold Company recovery plant in the Sverdlovsk region on 22 August 2025. Acting governor Denis Pasler launched the project. Planned investment exceeds RUB 45 billion, according to the company's announcement reported by Interfax.
The plant is designed to process three million tonnes of ore annually and begin operations in 2029. RBC's same-day report placed the factory near Nizhnyaya Salda. The issuer's release sets gold output at 4.5 tonnes a year after full ramp-up; Interfax described the target as more than 4.5 tonnes.
Processing and transport
The https://www.polymetal.ru/news/22-08-2025/ announcement specifies carbon-in-pulp processing, producing doré, a semi-finished gold-and-silver alloy. A planned railway branch will handle more than one million tonnes of ore annually. Polymetal specifies its own 250-wagon fleet.
- Pavlovskoye and Maminskoye are existing regional raw-material sources.
- Pershinskoye is identified as a prospective source.
- Additional geological exploration is intended to expand the mineral base.
Workforce accommodation and regional presence
RBC reported that a workers' accommodation settlement would be built in Nizhnyaya Salda. Polymetal's release describes accommodation for more than 500 people, including seven dormitories, a dining room and a gym. Ural branch director Andrei Novikov said social agreements had already been concluded with Nizhnyaya Salda and the Kamensky municipal district.
RBC's August report said Polymetal had mined gold in the Sverdlovsk region for more than 20 years. It identified March 1998 as the company's establishment date and Sergei Cherkashin as general director.
An earlier regional processing expansion
RBC reported on 19 June 2024 that Polymetal had launched the second stage of its Krasnoturyinsk processing factory. The new line uses flotation and gravity concentration for copper-zinc, zinc and gold-bearing polymetallic ores. The announcement put annual processing at 450,000 tonnes following commissioning and expected employment to rise from 350 positions after the first stage in 2023 to 530. Railway infrastructure supports ore deliveries and concentrate shipments.
