The August launch
President Vladimir Putin launched the Yermakovskoye mining and processing plant in Buryatia by video link, Interfax reported on 10 August 2026. The project belongs to Vladislav Sviblov's Areal Group in Russia. Planned annual capacity is thirty thousand tonnes of ore and two thousand tonnes of beryllium concentrate. Investment since development began stood at 6.36 billion rubles; the overall project investment estimate was 14.95 billion rubles.
The earlier investment proposal
An Interfax report dated 15 May 2024 described a proposed government resolution extending the Buryatia advanced-development territory's boundaries for Yermakovskoye. The company held the deposit licence and could become a resident. The accompanying explanatory note envisaged resuming beryllium-product production, with implementation from 2024 to 2034 and estimated capital investment of 6.4 billion rubles, excluding VAT. At licensing in 2005, reserves had been estimated at 1.4 million tonnes of ore containing 0.8% beryllium and 19% fluorite. The deposit had previously belonged for many years to Mikhail Slipenchuk's Metropol group.
The development agreement
On 27 December 2024, the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation announced an agreement with Yermakovskoye. It envisaged investment exceeding ten billion rubles in research, design, plant facilities and power infrastructure, and over three hundred new jobs. Production of beryllium products and fluorite concentrate was then scheduled for 2027. The corporation described support throughout implementation, including tax benefits and administrative preferences. Its territory-wide record covered twenty residents: 51.9 billion rubles and over 2,200 jobs planned, alongside more than 5.57 billion rubles already invested and 360 jobs created across those projects.
Power supply completed before the launch
Rosnedra's 19 March 2026 republication of a Rosseti statement reported completion of the plant's power-supply project in eastern Buryatia. Rosseti Siberia first supplied the consumer temporarily, then completed a permanent connection. The engineering record identified:
- A newly built six-kilovolt distribution point.
- A connection capacity of five megawatts.
- An expected processing volume of up to thirty thousand tonnes of ore annually.
The statement forecast more than 460 regional jobs from the project and described its duration as extending to 2034. It also identified aerospace, nuclear and electronics industries among beryllium's applications, referring to the metal's strength, heat resistance and transparency.
