INNIO plans to invest over $300 million in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and create more than 500 jobs over the coming years. Its 19 August 2026 announcement covers additional engine assembly and testing capacity. The existing campus covers about 1.7 million square feet, including nearly 890,000 square feet of manufacturing and operational space.

Planned site improvements

Earlier gas-compression collaboration

On 7 November 2024, INNIO's Waukesha brand announced a technology collaboration with Nidec Conversion. The arrangement combined Waukesha engine solutions with high-efficiency electric motors, variable-frequency drives for gas compression. Nidec's listed motor offerings ranged from 800 to 5,000 horsepower, with six poles and operating speeds of 900 or 1,200 revolutions per minute.

Jason Padilla, Waukesha's vice president for product management and marketing, described the intended flexibility: customers could use electricity and switch to natural gas when electricity prices peaked or economic conditions favoured it. The partners presented lower costs and emissions as intended benefits of their collaboration.

A separate modular-power manufacturing project

On 9 July 2025, INNIO and Gföllner established IGPS, a joint venture with INNIO holding a majority stake. The project would package Jenbacher gas engines into container modules in Trenton, New Jersey. Its announcement scheduled production to start by the end of 2025 and planned more than 200 jobs at that location.

By 2028, the containers manufactured annually were expected to represent output well above one gigawatt. Gföllner brought engineering, steel construction, sheet-metal working, welding, corrosion protection and technical-system integration to the partnership. Its customized containers serve energy, industrial, railway and construction customers.

A recent Jenbacher data-centre order

INNIO announced another development on 28 July 2026: an approximately 1.1-gigawatt gas-engine order for a developer of large data-centre campuses. The customer was unnamed under confidentiality arrangements. The order, booked in the second quarter of 2026, envisaged more than 200 Jenbacher J624 engines for on-site primary generation behind the electricity meter.

Deliveries were scheduled in phases. INNIO described the intended systems as scalable generation for the customer's expanding project portfolio. The company cited transportability, containerization, power density and load-following among the model's advantages for data-centre operators.
