Industrial output in Russia increased 2.3% year on year in March 2026, following declines of 0.9% in February and 0.8% in January. First-quarter output rose 0.3% against January–March 2025, Interfax reported on 22 April, citing Rosstat.
Monthly comparisons and sector results
PRIME's report put the seasonally and calendar-adjusted monthly increase at 0.2%. The unadjusted comparison with February showed a 12.4% increase. Unadjusted first-quarter output was 13.8% below the fourth quarter of 2025.
Manufacturing increased 3.0% year on year in March but declined 0.7% across the first quarter. Mining rose 1.0% in March and 0.8% in the quarter. Electricity, gas and steam supply increased 0.1% and 3.8%, respectively. Water supply, sewerage and waste-management output fell 2.4% in March and 3.8% across the quarter.
Selected manufacturing branches
- Other transport equipment, including aircraft and shipbuilding: March output up 32.6% year on year.
- Pharmaceutical products and materials: up 15.9%.
- Computers, electronic and optical products: up 8.7%.
The previously published annual record
Finmarket reported on 6 February 2026 that industrial production had increased 1.3% in 2025. That release put manufacturing growth at 3.6%, while mining declined 1.6%. Electricity, gas and steam supply also contracted 1.6%, and water supply and waste-related activities fell 4.3%. The report revised 2024 industrial growth to 5.1%, from the earlier 5.6% estimate. For comparison, that publication put manufacturing growth in 2024 at 9.1%, against mining's 0.5% decline.
The earlier January sector figures
Interfax's report dated 27 February described January's manufacturing breakdown: vehicle, trailer and semi-trailer output fell 21.3% year on year, electrical equipment declined 17.5%, and metals production decreased 6.6%. Other transport equipment grew 24.5%, while computers, electronic and optical products rose 9.8%. These are January comparisons with January 2025; the selected March figures above compare March with March 2025.
